Lopar are one of the Seanchan exotics, taken from worlds accessed via the Portal Stones to fight Shadowspawn. They are large, around fifteen hundred to two thousand pounds, though usually placed unless ordered to fight. They are a little more intelligent than a dog, and easily trained. These features make them excellent bodyguards, used by the Blood to protect children and they are considered the premier fighting animal. Suroth had a Lopar named Almandaragal (ACoS, Ch. 26)
