Letter from the Editor: January 2016
Author: Maibella Rhoiden
Welcome to 2016! Usually around this time each year I say how quickly time has flown by and wonder how it could be a new year already. Not this year. On a personal level 2015 seemed to me like a very long year. It was filled with difficulties that seemed to slow life down to a snail’s pace. There were great things in 2015 as well though, and I consider myself very blessed to be stepping in to 2016 with a new outlook on life and a bright future ahead of me.
This first 2016 edition of the TVT includes a State of the Tower update from the Amyrlin Seat, a look back at the good things that happened to site members in 2015, an insider’s view of the 2015 Membership Survey, an interview with our former Mayor, and a memorial article for Martele Gaidin who we lost this past year. We look ahead to 2016 with articles about creating a happiness jar, a peek into the Health and Fitness forum, and details on the Merit system. Our Global Issues column continues the story of forced marriage in part 2 of Rings. We also present a choose your own adventure story in which the fate of Kyran The Luckless Recruit lies in your hands! This is just a sampling of what you’ll find in this jam-packed edition of the TVT. I’m sure there will be something that you enjoy!
Moving into the new year we want to be sure we are delivering to you the very best Tar Valon Times that we can. With that in mind, we ask you to please take the time to complete a very brief survey (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1o0u...ewform?c=0&w=1). There are only 8 questions so it should take you just a few minutes to respond. You can include your name if you want but it is not required. Thank you in advance for helping us improve the TVT!
We welcome four new Reporters to our team this month: Deleios Cherchenuit Gaidin, Elyss Koh'inor, Theolyn Maryash Sedai, and Ty al’Djinn Gaidin. Three of these wonderful people have articles in this month’s TVT. I hope you will enjoy their creativity as much as I do!
Finally, here’s hoping that you leave all the bad things behind in 2015 and find only good things in 2016. Happy New Year TarValon.Net!
