The Academy of the Rose was a school founded by Rand in Caemlyn, as part of his effort to leave something behind him if he broke the world again. When Elayne returned to the capital she decided to dedicate the school to the memory of her mother, who she thought was dead. She also insisted that the Academy was to be funded by Andor and be connected to it and not to Rand (WH, Ch. 9).
