Amaline Paendrag Tagora was the first wife of Artur Hawkwing, who married her when he was 25. Two years later, Artur's parents were killed by the Black Fever, and Artur and Amaline ascended the throne as King and Queen of Shandalle.

The match between Artur and Amaline was apparently a love match. Artur wrote a series of poems now called the "Amaline Poems". While Artur was not a very good poet, the poems were obviously from a man who loved his wife; the only poem in the collection that was not a love poem was "Loss", and related to the death of one of his sons, Modair, who died in FY 959.

Aside from Modair, Amaline and Artur had three other children, though only the name of one, Modair's twin sister Amira, is known. Modair and Amira Paendrag were born in FY 942.

There is some suggestion that as a young girl, Amaline went to the White Tower seeking training. She was reportedly friendly toward Aes Sedai and Tar Valon, which is probably one of the reasons why Hawkwing made no open moves on Tar Valon during the Consolidation.

In the year FY 961, Amaline and the three remaining children that she and Artur had were killed by poison. Some sources claim that Bonwhin was responsible for their deaths.

During the summer of FY 944 when Hawkwing was struck ill and became feverish and delirious, he often spoke as if Amaline or Tamika (his second wife, also dead by this time) or both were in the room. On his deathbed, he told them, "I cannot come, yet. The work is not done. The battle is still to be fought".
