General

Azil Mareed was the High Captain of the Guard around the time of the Aiel War (circa 978 NE). He was originally from Arad Doman (TWoRJTWoT).

Each nation had one seat on the decision-making council of the Grand Alliance during the Aiel War, as did the Whitecloaks and the Aes Sedai. Marya Somares was the Aes Sedai chosen, and Azil Mareed advised her (TWoRJTWoT).

During the Battle of the Shining Walls, Azil Mareed sent reports to Tamra Ospenya at regular intervals, but the contents were not shared with anyone but full sisters, if even with them (NS, Ch. 2).
