Chenda of the Jenda sept of the Tomanelle Aiel was roofmistress of Mainde Cut Hold when Bair was a girl.

During a raid, she was touched by a young Haido Water Seeker while holding a carving knife. In her eyes, this was a weapon and she insisted on being made gai'shain.

After the Tomanelle and the Shaarad made peace, Chenda's eldest daughter married the Water Seeker, while Chenda was still his gai'shain. When he wanted to give Chenda to her daughter as a bride gift, both women thought he wanted to rob them of honor, which nearly started raiding between the clans anew.
