Idrelle Menford is an Accepted in the White Tower. She was an Accepted when Egwene first came to the Tower, and still is when Egwene is a prisoner in the Tower.

She is lanky, hard-eyed, and has a long nose. She frowns a lot.

She does not like Egwene, and seems more than a touch satisfied at seeing Egwene in novice white again.

She is teaching one of the novice classes that Egwene is required to take when Elaida reduces her to novice again. At the start of the class, Idrelle commands Egwene to make a ball of fire; Egwene knows that she just wants to prove how weak Egwene's channeling is, now that she is kept fed with forkroot all the time. Instead of just making a simple ball of fire, Egwene ends up dividing her flows fourteen ways. She makes seven colored balls, one in each color of the Ajahs. She adds rings of fire around the seven balls, also colored after the Ajahs, and makes them rotate around the balls, no two in the same direction. Idrelle tries to make Egwene stop, and switches her with a flow of air. Katerine and Jezrail, the two Reds set to watch Egwene for the day, appear and make Egwene stop. Egwene later thinks to herself that if an Accepted does not want her doing a thing better than the Accepted can, the woman should not ask her to do it at all.

Quotes

Standing on a small dais at the front of the room, Idrelle looked down her long nose with more than a spark of satisfaction at seeing Egwene in white once more. It almost softened her frown, a fixture with Idrelle. "You have all gone beyond making simple balls of fire," she told the class, "but let's see what our new girl is capable of. She used to think a great deal of herself, you know." Several of the novices tittered. "Make a ball of fire, Egwene. Go on, child." A ball of fire? That was one of the earliest things a novice learned. What was she about? (Egwene and Idrelle; Knife of Dreams, Chapter 24)
