Geography

Illian is located on the Sea of Storms bordering the weaker nations of Altara and Murandy in the south-central part of the Westlands.

History

Towards the end of the War of a Hundred Years, Lord Nicoli Merseneos den Ballin captured the city of Illian and created the kingdom of the same name His family rulled for three hundred years.

During the course of history, Illian was often at war with Tear and was involved in the Whitecloak War, which ended when the King of Illian Mattin Stepaneos forced the Children of the Light into accepting a peace treaty.

Fashion

Men of Illian wear long coats with raised collars and beards that leave their upper lios bare.

Women enjoy wide-brimmed hats held in place by long scarves that are wond around the neck in a decorative fashion.

High ladies wear decorative slippers worked with silver and gold. They wear high cut dresses to show the slippers. High Lords wear boots fringed with gold or silver.

The Great Hunt of the Horn

According to legend, the Horn of Valere was hidden to keep it safe until it was needed in the Last Battle. The Horn of Valere is inscripted with "Tia mi aven Moridin isainde vadin" which in the Old Tongue means: "The grave is no bar to my call." The Horn is said to be able to call dead heroes from the grave to fight against the Shadow.

There have been Hunts called throughout the Ages. One was between the Trolloc Wars and the War of the Hundred Years. Many heroes searched and their stories became legends that are now apart of a bardic cycle aptly called, the Great Hunt of the Horn.

Whenever a Hunt is called, the city of Illian celebrates with a grand carnival of costumes and fireworks, song, dance, and the telling of the legend. Prizes are given to gleemen, the greatest prize going for the best telling of the Hunt cycle.
