Jearom is known as the greatest blademaster of all time (The Dragon Reborn, Chapter 24; Lord of Chaos, Chapter 1).
During his lifetime, he fought over ten thousand times, in battle and in single combat (The Dragon Reborn, Chapter 24). He once defeated ten men at once (Lord of Chaos, Chapter 1). He was only ever defeated once, by a farmer with a quarterstaff (The Dragon Reborn, Chapter 24).
Watching him practice with the sword against five opponents, Nasin Caeren compares Rand to Jearom. Davram Bashere asks Rand if he thinks he will live long enough to equal the greatest swordsman in history (Lord of Chaos, Chapter 1).
