General

Jesse Bilal is the head of the Brown Ajah's council. She remained in the Tower when it split (LoC, Ch. 27).

Timeline

  • Following the split in the Tower, Jesse suggests to Adelorna, Ferane, Serancha and Suana, all of them heads of their respective Ajahs, that they attempt to control the Tower between them. They sent the youngest Sitters of their Ajahs to the rebels in an attempt to control the rebels and bring about a reunification of the Tower. To temporarily replace these Sitters, they choose young sisters whom they can control (TGS, Ch. 43). Jesse picks Juilaine to be the new Brown Sitter (CoT, Prologue).
  • Following the Seanchan attack on the White Tower, Jesse, Adelorna, Ferane, Serancha and Suana meet to discuss what to do. They decide to abandon their dreams of secretly controlling the Tower through the Amyrlin and to have Egwene raised as the Amyrlin Seat of the reunified Tower (TGS, Ch. 43).

Miscellaneous

  • Jesse, Adelorna, Ferane, Serancha and Suana do not fully trust each other, but Jesse thinks to herself that they come closer to doing so than any one else with any power in the Hall (TGS, Ch. 43).

Quotes

“‘Suggest’ is a strong word.” Jesse took a sip of her drink. “I simply mentioned that in some of the…more private Tower records, there are accounts of times when the Ajah heads ruled instead of the Amyrlin.” The Thirteenth Depository was known to the Ajah heads, though they could not visit it unless they were also Sitters. That didn’t stop most of them from sending Sitters to gather information from it for them. “I may have been the messenger, but that is often the role of the Brown. You all were not so hesitant as to be forced into this course of action.” Jesse to Adelorna, Ferane, Serancha and Suana regarding their plan to control the Tower (The Gathering Storm, Chapter 43).

“Yes,” Jesse found herself saying, to her own surprise. “Sisters, if we agree to this, it will end our dream of ruling from the shadows. For better or worse, we’ll be setting up an Amyrlin of strength.” Jesse to Adelorna, Ferane, Serancha and Suana regarding Egwene (The Gathering Storm, Chapter 43).
