General

Kalyan Ramsin is uncle and counsel of soldiers to Queen Tenobia of Saldaea.

The scarred and grizzled Saldaean features the same attributes as most of his countrymen do, the high cheekbones and the overbold nose which give him the look of an eagle as well as the down-curved mustaches.

He admires Queen Ethenielle greatly. Tenobia wants to get the two together.

Quotes

"Ethenielle glanced toward Kalyan Ramsin -- the fellow had sat his horse silently behind Tenobia, never speaking, hardly seeming to breathe -- she merely glanced at him, and for an instant that grizzled eagle unhooded his eyes. For an instant, she saw something she had not seen since her Brys died, a man looking not at a queen, but at a woman." (Ethenielle about Kalyan; The Path of Daggers, Prologue)
