Master Grinwell is a sturdy farmer Mat and Rand met on the road from Whitebridge to Caemlyn, a full day's walk from the small village of Arien.  He and his wife have nine children and probably needed no help around the farm, but took pity on them.  He was keen to have them stay a few days, to work and entertain, but his wife was concerned about their daughter Else and suggested that they leave first thing in the morning, which they did.  He has eight other children, all younger than Else.
