Norla was a wilder in the Black Hills. She was old and almost toothless (WH, Ch. 34; CoT, Ch. 23).

When Cadsuane Melaidhrin was about twenty-five, she began earning her hair ornaments from Norla. She also learned the lesson that what has to be endured can be endured (WH, Ch. 34).

Cadsuane think it might have altered a great deal of history had she not gone to Norla (CoT, Ch. 23).

"And she had not been put through the lessons that what must be endured, could be endured. In truth, Cadsuane sympathized with her. Somewhat. It was a lesson not everyone could learn in the Tower. She herself, full of pride in her new shawl and her own strength, had been taught by a near toothless wilder at a farm in the heart of the Black Hills." (Cadsuane on Nynaeve; Winter's Heart, Chapter 34)
