Pips is Mat's horse, a nondescript brown gelding he bought in the Stone of Tear. He is blunt nosed with a deep chest and strong withers and Rand thought he would be able to match Rand's stallion or Lan's for speed and endurance (TSR, Ch. 22). He takes him to the Waste through the Portal Stone (TSR, Ch. 22) and later out again, through the Jangai Pass (TFoH, Ch. 21). Mat keeps Pips throughout the books.
