General

Ramey is a man who works at The Queen's Blessing in Caemlyn, Andor. He is the head groom (TEotW, Ch. 44).

He is leathery-skinned and has a face like a horse (TEotW, Ch. 44).

Timeline

  • Ramey lets Master Gill know that the way is clear for Moiraine and company to leave in the night. Ramey and another stableman clear away hayforks, rakes and shovels from the rear wall of the stable and open a hidden gate for the guests to leave by. As they leave, Ramey hops from foot to foot, impatient to close the gate again (TEotW, Ch. 44).
  • When Mat returns to Caemlyn to deliver Elayne's letter to Morgase and stays at the Queen's Blessing, Ramey takes his horse. Mat asks Ramey if he remembers him and tosses him a silver mark; Ramey begins to reply that he doesn't, but when he sees the silver, changes his mind and says that he does remember Mat, trying to excuse himself by saying that he has no mind for remembering people, just horses. Mat thinks to himself that Ramey didn't know him from Hawkwing's toenail (TDR, Ch. 45).
