General

Roidan is a warrior of the Salt Flat sept of the Nakai Aiel and the leader of the Sha'mad Conde, the Thunder Walkers, on the western side of the Spine of the World. He is sun-dark and thick-shouldered with more gray than yellow in his hair, a hard, scarred face and even harder, icy blue eyes (TFoH, Ch. 41; LoC, Ch. 4).

Timeline

  • After leaving the Jangai Pass he sometimes practices the Aiel way of fighting with Rand (TFoH, Ch. 41).
  • Five miles east of Cairhien, Roidan and some other representatives from the societies have a gathering with the clan and sept chiefs (TFoH, Ch. 41).
  • He guards Rand's Traveling tent with a dozen Thunder Walkers and some Maidens. He greets Rand when he arrives and tells him where Weiramon is to be found (LoC, Ch. 4).

Quotes

"There was considerably more gray than yellow in Roidan’s hair, but a blacksmith could have used the heavy-shouldered man’s face for hammer or anvil, and by the scars across his cheeks and nose it seemed possible that more than one had." (Rand on Roidan; Lord of Chaos, Chapter 4).
