Saal is a serving girl at The Woman of Tanchico in Tar Valon. She is pretty with big, brown eyes. She looks nearly identical to Mada, another serving girl, though somewhat younger, so Mat suspects they are sisters.
She knows Thom from his stay at the inn and is never pleased to see him drown his sorrow in alcoholic beverages.
When Mat and Thom want to leave, she gives Mat a silver mark for cheering Thom up and because she thinks Mat has pretty eyes.
