General

Saroiya is an Aes Sedai of the White Ajah and part of the Salidar Aes Sedai (TPoD, Ch. 16). She is from Arad Doman (KoD, Ch. 23). She is also a Sitter for the Hall in Salidar and a follower of Romanda Sedai. She was also a Sitter in the Tower before it divided (CoT, Ch. 16).

She is described as being “blocky” (KoD, Ch. 23).

Timeline

  • When Egwene al’Vere calls the Hall together to vote on the proposal to open war against Elaida, Saroiya does not immediately stand in agreement, but instead “studied the other two White Sitters, tugging at her ear the way she did when deep in thought” (TPoD, Ch. 16).
  • According to Delana, Saroiya, among others that were Sitters before the split, is for entering into negotiations with Elaida (CoT, Ch. 16).
  • When Egwene calls the Hall together to announce the possibility of bonding Asha’man, Saroiya is vocally against the idea (CoT, Ch. 19), and speaks against the decision that the Hall made in its favor (CoT, Ch. 20).
  • When negotiations are opened with the Tower, Saroiya takes part in the discussions (CoT, Ch. 30). Even after Egwene is captured, they still continue negotiations (KoD, Ch. 2).
  • Saroiya is involved in an experiment that is held in an informal sitting of the Tower; it involves Jahar Narishma weaving spirit over her and Nacelle being able to detect the weave (KoD, Ch. 23).

Miscellaneous

  • When Myrelle was a novice, she put a trout in Saroiya’s bath (TFoH, Ch. 26).

Quotes

“Saroiya opened her mouth, then closed it without speaking, her face troubled.” (Egwene thinking when Saroiya is asked to stand in the Hall for the sake of unity; TPoD, Ch 16).

“Saroiya had abandoned the last shreds of White Ajah coolness and was screaming at Malind, who screamed back, neither waiting on the other.” (After Egwene proposes bonding Asha’man; CoT, Ch. 19).

“Saroiya's cloak was flamboyant with white embroidery— she must use saidar to keep it so sparkling bright.” (Siuan about Saroiya; KoD, Ch. 2).
