Selame is one of Egwene's maids. Lelaine picked her out among the refugees and gave her to Egwene as a present. In actuality she is a spy for Lelaine. She is rail-thin with a dark Tairen complexion and a long nose (ACoS, Ch. 10).
Chesa thinks that Selame carries her nose in the air, but knows at least what is expected of a lady's maid, so she and Meri will work to settle her down (ACoS, Ch. 8). Egwene, however, does not see any of Selame's arrogance she displays around the other maids. Selame is self-assured, but she acts very obsequiously around her patroness.
