Kyria d'Oreyn

General

Souran Maravaile was Artur Hawkwing's best general and husband to Ishara, the first Queen of Andor. None of their sons lived longer than twenty years; they all died in battle, leaving only their daughter Alesinde to ascend the throne after Ishara. This is also the reason why there is no House Maravaile (Robert Jordan's World of "The Wheel of Time"; LoC, Ch26).

Timeline

-After Hawkwing's death, he took over the siege of Tar Valon, which he raised a year later, something that his lover Ishara convinced him to do (though later, the Amyrlin Seat Deane Aryman was credited with this accomplishment, for it is known that she met with him). It is possible that Maravaile would have succeeded in defeating Tar Valon with the military force he had at his disposal (Robert Jordan's World of "The Wheel of Time"; Glossary; LoC, Ch26).

-Despite him being only a commoner, Ishara married him and brought him to Caemlyn. She had him secure the land around Caemlyn and then slowly expand outwards (LoC, Ch26).

-He died in a swordfight against four assassins in the twenty-third year of the War of the Hundred Years, though he also killed them before he died (Robert Jordan's World of "The Wheel of Time"; LoC, Ch1).

Quotes

"Souran Maravaile was the one besieging Tar Valon?" Rand said, startled. Artur Hawkwing had laid a twenty-year siege against Tar Valon, and put a price on the head of every Aes Sedai.

"The final year of it," she said, a touch impatiently, "as nearly as the histories record." It was plain she had little real interest in Souran except as Ishara's husband.
