Mat gambles on horses, betting all on Wind, ridden by Olver. The bookmaker is not pleased at the size of the bet, but has to take it according to guild rules. He has being having the palace watched, but Elayne and Nynaeve have been getting past his men. He sees Milli Skane and a memory of her trying to kill him in Andor returns. Olver wins and he sets of after Milli. On the way, he is forced to buy a signet ring, of a fox bothering some ravens (though he does not realise this at the time) so she doesn't notice him.
