Canin is the captain of the Darter, a river ship that Elayne and Nynaeve take passage on from Jurene to Tear (TDR, Ch. 39). He has a long face (TDR, Ch. 48).
When they dock in Tear, he is glad to be rid of the women, two of whom did nothing but sick up the entire trip (TDR, Ch. 48).
