Welcome to the April/May edition of the Gray Ajah Newsletter!

As always, we have a ton of announcements about how cool we are... unfortunately, I've forgotten most of what happened in the last two months, but here are the things I remember:

Gray Member of The Month

Our MotM for this newsletter is Arie Tarou! We are all proud to have her and as a result is this month's MotM! So without further adieu, the interview with Arie:

How long have you been a member?

For about 2 years now, give or take a few months. I've sort of lost track because it seems like I've been here forever. In a good way, of course!

What do you like the most about being a member?

I have a few favorite things. I adore the friendships that have come from this site, the respect I have for the administration (which is a HUGE deal to me), and vice versa. I adore my Sisters (and sisters to be) of the Shawl, and the ones outside my Ajah (whom are just as close to me). More so, I love the aspect that this place is Real to me. It's not just some random place on the net that I can talk to like-minded people, but what I say and what I hear in return are Real. We affect each others lives by the things we do and say and to me that is pretty profound.

Which forum is your favorite?

I'll confess, I like the Gray Sitting room the most. However I enjoy lurking all the Garrisons, Taverns and other JM halls. I also, oddly enough, love the Announcement forum and take great joy in raisings and other awesome announcements. Maybe I'm just one of those love to celebrate joy type of person.

Have you been to a real life event? Which is your favorite?

I have been to Anni 09 as my official Tower event, but I had already met a lot of Tower people at the DCon previously, including my fiance, James Davion. Its hard for me to pick a favorite over the other. For one I met my soulmate, while the other I made some very close friends for life. I think each has its own unique value and I look forward to other 'favorite' events in the future!

What do you do in real life?

Right now my RL is pretty... complicated. I just quit both my jobs and moved to the USofA. I'll be a housewife and a very panicked bride-to-be for a few months. Generally my days are filled with lurking, coding, graphics and the occassional writing or WoW. (Yeah, I play that.) However, transitions being what they are, its sort of hard to describe what my RL is like.

How are you “Gray” on the site and/or in real life?

I generally argue that I'm a Blue-ish Gray, or a Gray-ish Blue. When I have my teeth sunk into a cause I sort of bite hard and generally never let go until I get what I want or I've made my point pretty clearly. However over the recent few months I've found myself becoming more of a subtle calming influence where I take a more impartial role and help others through the tough parts of their lives, either online or offline. True I love Pie, have been pied, and will pie others... I've found myself taken a more peacemaker role which was what I had hoped would happen when I aspired Gray. Go figure.

What are your hobbies aside from reading?

I have a random approach to my hobbies. :D Sometimes I'm really interested in crafting and will make crafty things day after day. Then, I switch and start playing WoW for weeks on end until I tire, then I'm introduced to a book and no one will see me online until I'm done 48 hours later. This goes for enjoying TV series on DVD, knitting, web site coding, drawing either in photoshop or in my poorly neglected sketchbook, writing roleplays, or just browsing through deviantart.com for new ideas. The trouble with my RL being so transitional over the past few years has lead to transitional hobbies. I look forward to a little stability in my life so that I can see some stability in the things I do enjoy.

This is a reminder, to me, that no matter how hard I try to do good, bad things happen and I need to be aware of more than just my point of view.
