Jarene is the eldest daughter of Ethenielle Cosaru Noremaga, the Queen of Kandor, and Prince Brys of Kandor. She has five brothers, Antol, Diryk and three unnamed, and one younger sister, unnamed (NS, Ch. 25).

She is twelve years old when she leads her four younger brothers and younger sister before Moiraine when she visits the palace in Chachin. Moiraine describes her as "a lovely green-eyed girl" (NS, Ch. 25).

One of Ethenielle's daughters is married to Easar's third son, though we do not know which one (TPoD, Prologue).
