General
Shielyn is Windfinder to Zaida din Parede. She is tall and slender with a cool reserve (WH, Ch. 11). She wears eight earrings indicating that she is Windfinder to a Wavemistress of a Sea Folk Clan (CoT, Ch. 12). Now that Zaida is Mistress of the Ships, she presumably wears another pair of earrings as well (KoD, Ch. 22).
Timeline
- She is among Zaida's entourage when she disembarks the White Spray at Aringill (LoC, Ch. 5). They head for Caemlyn, where they take rooms in The Ball and Hoop (LoC, Ch. 6).
- She sits to Zaida's right during Nynaeve's lessons with the apprentices (WH, Ch. 11).
- After learning of Nesta's death, the Sea Folk in the Royal Palace want to go to Illian immediately to elect a new Mistress of the Ships. Zaida bargains with Elayne, who is okay that Shielyn goes with Zaida as long as she can have her share of Windfinders (CoT, Ch. 12). She is among the twelve Windfinders to accompany Zaida to Illian (CoT, Ch. 15).
- As Zaida's Windfinder, she is present at the meeting with the First Twelve Wavemistresses of the Atha'an Miere (KoD, Ch. 22).
