Perrin walks around camp with Elyas and Grady inspecting the guard posts and discussing what to do about the Whitecloaks that are holding some of their people and supplies. Grady points out that the Whitecloaks don't have asha'man which gives them a huge advantage and they have superior numbers. As Perrin thinks on this and the wolves who have returned to talking to him he realizes this can't be coincidence not with his ta'veren nature. Neald along with Masuri and Edarra learn to make a circle. With Neald and Grady now healthy enough to channel Perrin wants them to prepare for their mission. Grady asks Perrin if he can visit the Black Tower and see his family, explaining that the Taint has been cleansed and that he now has a reason to live. Perrin tells him he will have time to visit just not quite yet. As they are finishing up their talk Dain Bornhald from the Whitecloaks enters the camp. Bornhald tells him that the Lord Captain Commander would like to speak with him down the road and that he has promised to let Perrin return safely. Perrin rides out and meets with Galad. Perrin asks for the return of his people but Galad accuses him of murder of two members of the Whitecloaks from two years before and of leading Trollocs to the Two Rivers. After, Perrin asks for a more formal parley but Galad refuses and tells Perrin that he will be judged in battle under the Light. Perrin contemplates using Grady to take Galad prisoner right then but decides not to and returns to camp.

Setting: Camp on the Jehannah Road

Characters: Galad and Bornhald

Galad watches Perrin leave thinking about their encounter. Believing that Perrin's eyes are a sign he is a Darkfriend along with the fact that he had stiffened when Galad mentioned him killing the Whitecloaks and that he had men who could channel with him.
