Author: Toral Delvar

Characters: Aviendha, Birgitte, Elayne, Nynaeve, Mat

Setting: Ebou Dar

Points of view: Mat, Nynaeve

Mat's point of view

Mat is attacked by two beggars, but forces them off and returns to the Wandering Woman where he is rebutted for having a woman in his room, who he discovers to be Birgitte. He has a flashback to when he blew the Horn of Valere and called the Hunters and recognizes her. They start talking in the Old Tongue, which Mat does not realize till she points it out. They agree to keep each other's secrets and go drinking.

Nynaeve's point of view

Nynaeve sits with Elayne and Aviendha in their apartments, reading Mat's note and wondering what they can do about Carridin and why Tylin does not arrest him. Elayne's behaviour grows increasingly bizarre and she starts weaving disguises, making Nynaeve angry enough to channel. Elayne realizes Birgitte must be drunk and it is affecting her. Birgitte returns, complaining that Mat and Beslan can drink too much.

They ask if Mat will be there in the morning and are told he might help them, if they apologize, which angers them, though they ask what for. Birgitte tells them he wants an apology for the way that they treated him after he rescued them from the Stone, though he hadn't mentioned either the Black Ajah or the Forsaken being there. Birgitte and Aviendha both say he deserves both apologies and thanks, which Elayne reluctantly accepts, though Nynaeve refuses.
