Summary
Pevara's Point of View:
Setting: The Black Tower
Characters: Pevara, Androl, Evin
Pevara watches Androl make a saddle and tries to engage him in a conversation. She offers herself as bait for Taim, but Androl refuses, because he thinks it is not her fight. They start to argue about the purpose of the Red Ajah now that saidin is clean. Androl thinks they have only two choices: either continue hunting men or stop being Reds, but Pevara disagrees. They can adapt to the circumstances. Androl wants to show her that the Source really is clean, because she still doubts him. Pevara offers to show him how to link, then regrets that she cannot lead the circle. Androl seizes the Source through her and Pevara panics. Even after she asks him to release her, he draws more of the Power. When he does release her, she bonds him before she knows what she is doing. He then bonds her in return. Evin then enters and tells them Welyn and his Aes Sedai have returned, but Welyn doesn't seem to be the same anymore.
Aviendha's Point of View:
Setting: The Field of Merrilor
Characters: Aviendha, Elayne, Lir, Dyelin, Perival
Aviendha sneaks into Elayne's tent and sits down without anyone noticing. Lord Lir wants Elayne to reclaim Caemlyn, but she intends to wait until the Trollocs leave the city. When Elayne addresses Aviendha, the others with her are surprised, but then leave the two alone. When Aviendha asks whether Caemlyn has fallen, Elayne replies that there were Darkfriends in the guard who was supposed to keep the Waygate safe. When they talk about Elayne's plans for the next day, a guardswoman enters and delivers a letter from Rand. He urges her to return to Caemlyn, but she knows he actually wants her there during the meeting. Aviendha then says she must go to Rand that night, because it might be the only night they have left and Elayne gives her blessing.
