Rand's Point of View:

Location: The Pit of Doom

Characters: Rand, Shai'tan


Rand, speaking in all caps, tells the Dark One that it is not about him. He tells the Dark One that he can only win if he breaks people and that he can't win. The Dark One replies he can still kill and that all are his eventually including the battle lord. Rand stretches out his palm, containing the world, and on the battlefield, two bodies on the ground.




Mat's Point of View:

Location: the Field of Merrilor

Characters: Mat, Tam, Karede


Mat fights, killing Trollocs, thinking that this is their chance to break them while the Sharans are in disarray.




Rand's Point of View:

Location: the Pit of Doom

White mist rises from the ground and Hanlon stiffens, a silvery arrow through his chest. A second shot takes him on the head and a third takes out the Dreadlord. She sees Birgitte standing over her corpse. She tells Elayne that the Heroes of the Horn have returned.

He recognises him as Noal, though with the weariness gone. Noal tells him that he did indeed die, but that the Pattern was not finished with him and tells Olver to sound the horn. Olver feels a great warmth, for one of the people he lost has come back to him.
