A similar entry appears in the Wheel of Time Companion confirming the information available in the main story arc.
General
Algarin of House Pendaloan is a lesser Lord of the Land in Tear and a soldier in training at the Black Tower. He is old and has a white pointed beard and a wrinkled face (CoT, Ch. 23, ToM, Ch. 46). Although far from wealthy, he always pays his debts (CoT, Ch. 23). Androl describes him as tall, refined and careful, thinks he is a master at giving insults (AMoL, Prologue), and that he is remarkably skillful with the Power, especially considering his short time practicing (ToM, Ch. 56).

Relationships
He was very close to his younger brother Emarin. After Emarin learned to channel, he was captured by Cadsuane and taken to Tar Valon to be gentled. Algarin is grateful for it, as his brother survived another ten years afterwards (CoT, Ch. 23).
His servants are nearly as old as he, but they still keep the place clean and tend the forests well (CoT, Ch. 23; KoD, Ch. 19).
All of his living children are married and Algarin thinks that he might give his estates to one of them when it turns out that he can learn to channel (CoT, Ch. 23).
He thinks well of Androl, calling him friend. Androl sees Algarin as a true nobleman, because he has embraced the hierarchy in the Black Tower without complaint (ToM, Ch. 46). Androl knows Algarin's real identity (AMoL, Prologue).
He was impressed by Rand and trusts him. Although he hasn't spoken with often, he is convinced Rand is not mad (ToM, Ch. 46).
He is one of the few people left in the Black Tower in Logain's faction (ToM, Ch. 46).
Although different from Canler, he has found common ground with him and enjoys his company (AMoL, Prologue).
Strengths and Abilities
Despite being a relative newcomer, he is strong enough to Travel and "remarkably skillful" (ToM, Ch. 56). He is powerful, but hasn't reached his full potential yet (AMoL, Prologue).
Miscellaneous
- He owns the skin of a huge snake he claims comes from the Drowned Lands (CoT, Ch. 23).
- His house includes six Ogier rooms and a huge library (CoT, Ch. 24; KoD, Ch. 20). His ancestors made sure that visitors would be comfortable there (KoD, Ch. 19).
- He adapts quickly to the rules of the Black Tower and does not expect to be given preferential treatment because he is a noble (ToM, Ch. 46).
- He is fairly well educated in many areas and has heard of Retash but not a Retashen Dazar (ToM, Ch. 46).
- He is sharp enough to notice when Androl lets slip he knows how to shoot a bow from horseback (ToM, Ch. 46).
- Pevara finds it interesting that he, as a Tairen, treats her with the most respect at the Black Tower, but he remarks that politeness has less to do with respect than with good upbringing (AMoL, Prologue).
- He prefers men (AMoL, Ch. 37)
