Betse Silvin is a serving girl at The Golden Stag inn in Maerone. She is short and slim; has dark eyes; black, curly, shoulder-length hair; and pale cheeks; she is beautiful.
When Mat attempts to flirt with her, she begins talking incessantly and asking lots of questions. To shut her up, Mat asks her to dance and teaches her a dance he remembers from one of his past lives. He asks her if "Daughter of the Nine Moons" means anything to her but it does not. Later in the evening of that same day, Betse dances with Mat some more although she still refuses to kiss him.
