General

Cuale is the innkeeper of The Defender of the Dragonwall, an inn in Cairhien. When he first meets Rand, he takes him for an Aiel. He brings Rand a series of invitations and does not even look at him after the first three, when Rand loudly denies playing Daes Dae'mar (TGH, Ch. 25). When the final two invitations arrive, he is so excited, he takes them up to Rand's room rather than waiting for him (TGH, Ch. 30). He is plump and unctuous and has a single stripe of green across a dark grey coat (TGH, Ch. 25).

Timeline

• Cuale greets Rand when he arrives at the inn (TGH, Ch. 25).

• He brings him invitations from three minor houses (TGH, Ch. 25).

• He brings him invitations from the two most powerful houses (TGH, Ch. 30).

• He directs men trying to put out the flames when Darkfriends set fire to the inn (TGH, Ch. 30).
