Darin is an Aiel of the Moshaine sept of the Shaido and belongs to the Shae'en M'taal (Stone Dog) warrior society. He is the oldest son of Maeric, the sept chief of the Moshaine, and Dyrele; he is brother to Suraile.
He gets separated from his family when Caddar/Sammael uses gateways to disperse the Shaido.
