General
Maeric is a Shaido Aiel and a Seia Doon. He is described as blocky by Sevanna (ACoS, Prologue). He is chief of the Moshaine sept (ACoS, Ch. 40).
He is married to Dyrele, who gave up the spear for him. His eldest son is Darin and his eldest daughter is Suraile (ACoS, Ch. 40).
Timeline
- Maeric fights at Dumai's Wells, he disagrees with the strategy Sevanna follows (ACoS, Prologue).
- Maeric leads a few thousand Shaido through a gateway created by one of Caddar's travel boxes. He ends up near Rand's Aiel army gathering to drive Sammael out of Illian. Separated from the other Shaido his band is killed or taken gai'shain. Maeric dies in the battle (ACoS, Ch. 40).
Miscellaneous
- Maeric is considered one of the likely candidates to become Shaido clan chief. Sevanna had other plans though (ACoS, Prologue).
- Maeric doesn't like the One Power and certainly not the male half of it (ACoS, Ch. 40).
- Maeric isn't sure what to believe about Rand but he thinks it is wrong to break his ties. Even for the Car'a'carn (ACoS, Ch. 40).
