Hamal is an Aielman of the Moshaine sept of the Shaido Aiel.

He is a blacksmith, and described to be a big man.

When the Moshaine Shaido are separated from the rest of the Shaido by stepping through one of Sammael's gateways, they are surrounded by enemy Aiel and wetlanders. Maeric, the sept chief, gives Hamal the nar'baha that is supposed to be able to transport them. He tells Hamal to keep pressing the red spot no matter what happens and no matter how long it takes for the hole to open, as it is the only way out for any of them. What they don't know is that the nar'baha is only a piece of stone, and that it will not help them.
