Tower Sworn Interview

April 1, 2024

Why did you choose Val'Cueran?

VC was a natural fit from the very first interactions I had with members of the company down in the Outter Banks, NC. As I went to more and more official and unofficial events with VC members, it became even more apparent that these were my people. Between making fires, wearing pins, drinking delicious craft beer, listening to great music and discussing sports, VC is me to a tee.

Do you fit the Val'Cueran stereotype? Are you fiercely loyal and travel in a pack? Do you enjoy the taste of warm milk?

When it comes to friends both on and off TV.Net, I am fiercely loyal and those who know me know that I am there for them whenever called upon. On the contrary, when I need some "me" time, I do thoroughly enjoy doing activities on my own; getting food, going to concerts etc. Self love is important and I definitely need that "me" time too. I genuinely don't think I have ever had a cup of warm milk in my life.

What male character from the novels do you think would fit best in Val'Cueran?

Thom Merrilin. He likes to entertain and I truly see VC as the entertainment company.

How long have you been a fan of the Wheel of Time series?

Since 5/14/21

How did you first get into the series?

I was coming back from a camping trip in the Poconos with Idine Espanyas, when we went back to my old college town of East Stroudsburg, PA. After spending the morning in White Haven at a diner & Lehigh Gorge State Park checking out waterfalls, that afternoon we explored my old college campus and then walked along main street. We sat down outside & had Lebaneese food, went in to the bar 'Floods' for a 'swift kick', perused the local record store and finally happened upon a book store that had the mass market paper back version of 'Eye of the World'. Idine didn't need to convince me to buy it as she had talked about The Wheel of Time series quite a bit prior to that day. I'm sure I started reading it not long after I returned home to my parents house.

Who is your favorite "hero"?

Mat Cauthon. He is human, consumed by urges to touch the shiny object 'dagger', want affection, gamble a bit. He has this side to him that is so unexplored and I find myself always reading through his chapters with just a little more attention than others.

Favorite bad guy/gal?

Lanfear. If I were casting for a reality tv show and I needed a villain to manipulate their fellow cast members, I am giving Lanfear the call every time.

Favorite book and scene?

I can't accurately answer favorite book as I have not finished the series, with that said I really enjoyed 'The Great Hunt'. Favorite scene, I have two that come to mind immediately. First, when Mat is gambling in the Stone of Tear and the cards come to life during the bubble of evil. Second, at the end of 'A Crown of Swords' when Rand out of nowhere wakes up & decides to have a showdown with Sammael at Shaddar Logoth.

If you were set down in Randland, who/what would you see yourself as? An Aes Sedai? Innkeeper? Seanchan Captain?

I've always said either a Gleeman or a Tinker. I like to travel & entertain and I enjoy the atmosphere of Inns. Tinker because I enjoy tight-knit communities, I don't often enjoy violent things and tinkers are basically hippies (Phish fans) lol.

How did you find TarValon.Net and what convinced you to stay and become Tower Sworn?

Idine Espanyas. For me it was meeting the VC's in real life. I feel like most people don't have the luxury to meet the people in their ajah or company beforehand, but for me it was absolutely crucial before taking the next step toward Tower Sworndom.

What do you do in "real life"?

I work remote for an online sports betting/casino company as a customer experience associate, however I just landed a marketing internship with the company!

Do you have any hobbies?

I am a lyric writer and have recorded several tracks in a number of genres including rock & country. I have been published in the Health Communication Journal. I conceptualize ideas for/create enamel pins and I am a huge collector. I am a Survivor & Phish Megafan. I love rare Hazy NEIPA's. I once competed in a Mr. Beast Video in a game of hide & seek and lost $10,000. I like to travel, go to many concerts & spend time with my girlfriend & now bond mate Idine.

What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?

Rock (the most), Reggae, Ska, Underground Hip-Hop, Indie Rock, fantasy/progressive Metal.

Artists that come to mind: Phish, Rebelution, Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Mac Demarco, Less Than Jake, Streetlight Manifesto, Suburban Legends, Eric Clapton, Vulfpeck, Drugdealer, Wheeler Walker Jr., Rise Against, A Tribe Called Quest, Blind Guardian, Between the Buried and Me

What are some of your favorite movies / television shows?

Movies: Eurotrip, Twister, Saving Silverman, Back to the Future, Krull, The World's End, Beer League
TV Shows: Survivor (Australian, U.S., U.K. & South African), Game of Thrones, Entourage, Workaholics, Blue Mountain State, Wilfred, The Office

Aside from The Wheel of Time, what are a few of your favorite books/series?

Supermensch, Holes, The Game

What profession did you want to have when you were a kid?

Meteorologist, I think Astronaut at one point too
