Sierin Vayu was raised to Amyrlin Seat from the Gray Ajah in 979 NE. She replaced Tamra Ospenya, who was murdered by the Black Ajah. Her Keeper of the Chronicles was Duhara and her Mistress of Novices was Amira, both of the Red Ajah (NS, Ch. 14).
Chesmal Emry induced the Red Ajah to kill Sierin because Sierin knew that she was Black Ajah (WH, Ch. 10). Siuan had left her a letter explaining that the Black Ajah had murdered Meilyn Arganya. Chesmal had announced her death so Sierin knew that she was Black (NS, Ch. 18). Few people within the Black Ajah knew that Chesmal was responsible and Alviarin believed that Elaida was involved; considering that Elaida was Red, it is indeed possible (ACoS, Prologue). There is confusion as to which year Sierin was killed: in TWoRJTWoT she died in 984 NE while in WH, Ch. 10 it is claimed that she died in 981 NE.
