Tema is the head groom in Fal Dara, Shienar. When the Amyrlin arrives, Rand tries to leave but Tema is forced to tell him that this is not allowed, something that fills him with shame. He thinks highly of Aes Sedai and expects Rand to feel honored that he will be called to see the Amyrlin. He is leathery-faced and has his grey hair like an inverted bowl in the style of Shienaran laborers.
