During the Years FY, Garen was one of the kings of Dhowlan, which was located where Ghealdan now lies. He was involved in several wars with the neighboring nation of Farashelle.

Garen's Wall

There is a cliff in north-eastern Ghealdan that is today called "Garen's Wall" because of the defense that it provided against Farashelle. During the time of the Ten Nations, it was located within the nation of Manetheren. In the Free Years, it formed the border of Farashelle and Dhowlan and later Ghealdan's northern border, though the land to the north was unclaimed.
