Why did you choose Brown?
I've always had a love of learning and very much believe in "knowledge for the sake of knowledge" but I considered all of the Ajahs carefully during the guesting process. Some I knew right away that it was not the place for me but with Brown, from the minute I entered their forums I felt at home. The general topics of discussion interested me and I shared their style of humor. They were witty and sarcastic but also knew how to provide kindness and support in the right moments.
Are you like the Browns in the books? Do you love books and have a tendency to daydream?
I love books, learning and history. So much can be learned from the past and as has been said many a time, "if we do not learn from history we are condemned to repeat it". I wouldn't say that I'm a daydreamer though.
Do you have a favorite Brown Ajah character from the novels?
How long have you been a fan of the Wheel of Time series?
Since the summer of 1999.
How did you first get into the series?
I was going on a family trip to Germany for 3 weeks and my mom took me to the book store to get a new book for the plane rides and such and I stumbled across a big shiny copy of The Dragon Reborn. I noticed it was the third in the series, picked up the first book and started reading away.
Who is your favorite "hero"?
Verin. Which is funny, because I'm sure the first time around when I was 14 that would have been a very different answer but as I got older and re-read the series multiple times which characters I liked and didn't like changed drastically. On my most recent re-read I found myself watching Verin much more closely and catching a lot of things I missed about her the first few times around.
Favorite bad guy/gal?
Semirhage. Not really sure why, maybe just because of where we found out she was ultimately hiding and how she pulled it off so successfully.
Favorite book and scene?
I think EotW is still my favorite. I'll always remember that first reading of Winter's Night and how I was hooked from that moment on. Not the grandest of moments but thinking about that being the moment I fell in love with the series gives me all sorts of warm fuzzies. Plus, every time I read that book it reminds me of where they all started and how naive most of them were at the beginning and as I read through I get that profound sense of innocence lost.
If you were set down in Randland, who/what would you see yourself as? An Aes Sedai? Innkeeper? Seanchan Captain?
Aiel Wise One
How did you find TarValon.Net and what convinced you to stay and become a Senior Member?
As is my response to a lot of things in life... "Arie made me". When I went out to Cali for her wedding she kept talking about TarValon.net and I got the privilege of meeting Yelenia as well and between the two of them they just made me want to join. Once I was here, I got to meet other members and managed to create some pretty fantastic friendships and that's the kind of things that makes you want to stick around.
What do you do in "real life"?
I'm a Business Analyst for United Healthcare, though my degree is in Biochemistry (long story). I work a combination of compliance audits with government regulations and help other parts of the business with determining system errors and requesting system updates. Basically, I get brought business puzzles all day and get to try and solve them.
Do you have any hobbies?
I read (of course), sew (big into Ren Faire costumes), do a little bit of computer gaming (mostly down to just D3) and my husband and I enjoy camping and gardening.
What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?
Mostly Indie, but honestly, if you went through my music collection there are very few genres I can't pull at least one artist for. I just love music in general and as long as the lyrics speak to me I'll be in love with it no matter the genre.
What are some of your favorite movies / television shows?
TV Shows - Buffy, CSI, The Blacklist, The Voice, Big Bang Theory, American Dad, That 70s Show, Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother. Movies - There's just too many!
Aside from The Wheel of Time, what are a few of your favorite books/series?
Ok, really there are too many to choose from here too but...Harry Potter, The Inspector Rebus series, The Fizz and Buchanan series, A Song of Ice and Fire, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Catch-22, The Scarlet Letter.
What profession did you want to have when you were a kid?
Depends what age, but the earliest one I can recall is wanting to be a Vet.
