Summary

Egwene is stunned for a moment but then objections flood her mind. She's not even Aes Sedai. According to Beonin that can be gotten around. Nowhere it is mentioned the Amyrlin must be Aes Sedai upon raising, only that she is Aes Sedai once she is Amyrlin. Egwene protests some more but it the Aes Sedai brush it aside. Quickly they set out to find a suitable Accepted dress and instruct her on the ceremony.

The Hall wastes no time and gathers quickly. Sheriam, Myrelle and Morvrin speak for Egwene. Half of the Sitters support her the first time around but the decision must be unanimous. The ritual prescribes that Egwene now serves the Hall by washing the feet of the women who have to elect her. The ritual takes ages and Egwene gets ever more nervous. Romanda and Lelaine, the most senior Sitters are the last to add their support. Egwene has been elected Amyrlin.

Sheriam tells her after the ceremony that either Romanda or Lelaine would most likely have been elected Amyrlin in her stead if she hadn't been chosen. That would most likely have resulted in the banishing of Egwene and the three sisters who spoke for her. The Tower must be one.
