Above all else, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Other than that, anything by Robert Heinlein, most of Brandon Sanderson's work, Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow (but none of the other steaming piles of feces Card excreted), Old Man's War, The Forever War and Pratchett's Guard books
