Radhanan

The Empress - may she live forever - is the ruler of the mighty Seanchan Empire. Her real name is Radhanan, although it is not used outside the imperial family.

During the last thousand years, the Seanchan Empire has always been ruled by a woman of the blood of Luthair Paendrag Mondwin, the son of Artur Hawkwing (WH, Ch. 14).

Empress Radhanan married a man she loved and had many children (at least four daughters), among them her favorite daughter, Tuon, whom she named her heir to the throne.

It was the Empress who authorized Tuon to be trained as sul'dam and who appointed Anath as her soe'feia.

Semirhage murders the Empress and all the imperial family left in Seanchan and offers the Crystal Throne to Suroth, if she kills Tuon (KoD, Prologue).
