Duranda Tharne is the innkeeper of The Good Night's Ride in Lugard and one of the Blue Ajah's eyes-and-ears. She is dark-eyed, tall, and heavyset with red-dyed curls, a thrusting chin, and a hard mouth.

She has married daughters older than Siuan appears to be.

She has been serving the Blue Ajah since before Siuan took over the network, and she is a reliable agent.

Siuan comes to her inn to gather some information about the rebel Aes Sedai and has to pretend to be searching for a job singing. Mistress Tharne thinks that Siuan is very haughty and needs to cure that before she falls on her face. But she gives her the name "Sallie Daera" and tells her to inform Aeldene Stonebridge that she is still loyal.
