General

This angreal is in the form of an age-darkened ivory carving of a lady in flowing robes. It is smooth and no longer than Moiraine’s hand, with hair that falls to her shoulders (TEotW, Ch. 8).

The Ivory Woman is of an average strength for an angreal, neither very strong nor weak. It allows Moiraine to draw a noticeable amount of extra saidar as when it is first seen by Rand noticed her extra drawing (TWoTRPG).

Siuan almost does not allow Moiraine to take the angreal with her when she goes to Emond's Field (TEotW, Ch. 8). The Hall wants it back, since Moiraine is now considered to be “unreliable” (TGH, Ch. 5).

Uses

  • We actually see this angreal used for the first time when it is used by Moiraine to Heal Tam al'Thor after the battle in Emond's Field (TEotW, Ch. 8).
  • The next time we see this angreal is when in chapter 18, The Caemlyn Road, Moiraine uses the figurine to create an earthquake and a wall of fire to delay and hinder the Trollocs and Myrddraal who have been chasing them from Emond's Field (TEotW, Ch. 18).
  • We don’t see this angreal again until Moiraine, Siuan, Leane, and Verin use it in their attempt to Heal Mat in “The Great Hunt” (TGH, Ch. 7).
  • The last time we this angreal used is in “The Dragon Reborn,” when Moiraine uses it in aid of Healing those who were wounded by Trollocs and Myrddraal who attack them in the Mountains of Mist (TDR, Ch. 5).
