City Council

Overview

The Welcome Committee is a Staff position under the Department of Membership and is responsible for helping new members adjust to TarValon.Net. The duties of the committee include welcoming new members, answering questions new members may have about the community, including on Tower Bylaws or Member Manuals, and moderating the Introductions forum.

It is a rotating position, with the rotation period officially being every 6 months. It is open to members of any rank.

Chain of Command

The Welcome Committee reports directly to the Mayor.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Spend approximately 5-10 hours a week welcoming new members, answering their questions, and generally being available for them.
• Help with special activities and Feast Day events, for example altering avatars.

Requirements

• May be of any rank.
• Must have been a member in good standing for three months.
• Must have a good knowledge of the Membership Manual, our Bylaws, and how our community generally works, specifically pertaining to Citizens.
• Must know where to find answers to questions that new members may have.
• Must have a love and excitement for helping our newest members find their way around TarValon.Net.

History

The Welcome Committee was formed after Saminda Sedai stepped down and the position of New Member Services Coordinator was discontinued.
