My Aspiring Experience

By Braedan Fearghal

Aspiring has been a unique and interesting journey for me. Guesting gave me a good chance to get to meet different people from each Company in their own “nests” and see what they were really like outside the larger group that is TarValon.Net. While I met many great people in other companies, I had no doubt in my mind that Val'Cueran would be my home. I had an idea before I ever guested anywhere that I would end up aspiring to VC, but I wanted to go into it with an open mind and give everyone a fair look. The Gaidin and Soldiers of Val'Cueran just seemed to make me feel the most comfortable and were genuinely nice people with a real sense of brotherhood and camaraderie. The bond they shared seemed stronger than that of other groups and I knew that I wanted to be a part of that. So I aspired to Val'Cueran and I can honestly say that I have never once second guessed or regretted that decision.

Since aspiring I have been given a great opportunity to see these brothers interact with each other and their Aes Sedai in a special ways. I’ve seen people share their joys and their sorrows. I’ve seen people vent their anger and joke with each other non-stop. I’ve seen a deep level of support for brothers in need and heartfelt understanding and sympathy when times have been tough. I have also been able to join in that unique circle and become a part of it through my aspiring experience. My wife and I are expecting our first child in September. My mentor and his wife are also expecting their first child around that same time. Several other brothers have either recently had children or are expecting children and this is yet another bond that we share. Looking eagerly forward to becoming a father, I draw upon the knowledge and support of these men who have been there before me and those that are currently going through the same experience that I am. As my time aspiring draws to a close and I prepare for senior membership, I look back fondly on aspiring to this company. It has served many purposes for me; the most important of which has been a validation and confirmation of the choice that I’ve made to share in that bond of brotherhood and become a wolf of Val'Cueran.

The words of Rudyard Kipling;

“Now this is the Law of the Jungle as old and as true as the sky;

And the Wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the Wolf that shall break it must die.

As the creeper that girdles the tree trunk, the Law runneth forward and back;

For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack”
