Barin Madwen was a Cairhienin innkeeper. He owned The Nine Rings until his death; then he willed the inn to his wife, Maglin Madwen, and all of his money to his brother. Maglin calls him tricksome and scheming like all other men, especially Cairhienin, as she had been sure he would give her the money and his brother the inn.
