Hartha

General

Hartha is an Ogier from Seanchan. He is the First Gardener of the Deathwatch Guard. He is weathered and grizzled with a grim face, eyes like black stones and long gray mustaches (CoT, Ch. 4).

He commands the Ogier in Tuon's body-guard (KoD, Ch. 34), and therefore he is of equal rank with Captain Musenge (KoD, Ch. 37).

Timeline

• He had been a Gardener since before Karede's father was born (CoT, Ch. 4).

• He leads twenty of the Gardeners with Karede's and Musenge's force of Deathwatch Guards in the secret search for Tuon (CoT, Ch. 4).

• They have been searching for Tuon for nearly four weeks when Karede leaves Hartha and Musenge in charge of the Deathwatch Guard to meet with Gamel Loune, a Banner-General of the Ever Victorious Army. When Karede returns, they head northeast to the Malvide Narrows (KoD, Ch. 34).

• He accompanies Karede when he enters the Band's camp to meet Thom Merrilin, whom they expect to be the general (KoD, Ch. 36).

• Karede leaves him and some other men and Ogier of the Deathwatch Guard with Mat. Hartha goes scouting with Vanin and three others to turn the attention of the attackers on them and lead them into Mat's trap. After the fight, Hartha searches the dead for the traitor and soon returns with Zaired Elbar's head (KoD, Ch. 37).
