General

Malind Nachenin is an Aes Sedai and Sitter of the Green Ajah. She sided with the Salidar Aes Sedai when the Tower split (LoC, Ch. 35). She is Kandori (CoT, Ch. 19).

Malind would normally be considered too young to be a Sitter; she is less than seventy years old. However, she is part of a disturbing trend of Sitters being too young for the position (TPoD, Ch. 16).

Malind has a pretty face with full lips and dark eyes. She is slightly plump. (LoC, Ch. 35) She has a round face and piercing eyes (CoT, Ch. 19).

Timeline

  • 999 NE: Malind makes her way to Salidar when the Tower splits. She is elected as a Sitter for the Green Ajah (LoC, Ch. 35).
  • 999 NE: Malind and the rest of the Hall-in-exile meet with Tarna Feir, the emissary from the White Tower (LoC, Ch. 35).
  • 1000NE: After reunification, Malind steps down from her position as a Sitter (ToM, Ch. 27).

Miscellaneous

  • Malind stood to make Egwene the Amyrlin Seat during the first vote (LoC, Ch. 35).
  • Malind thought that the Salidar Aes Sedai should appeal to the local nobles in order to raise money. Egwene thought that it sounded more like a demand and refused to let it happen (TPoD, Ch. 16).
  • Malind is not afraid to make hard choices, or to retreat if she deems it necessary (CoT, Ch. 19).
  • Malind, Moria and Escaralde proposed that the Salidar Aes Sedai enter into an agreement with the Black Tower that would allow Asha'man to be drawn into circles in times of need. The three Sitters had been plotting together to make sure that the proposal was approved; it was (CoT, Ch. 19).
  • Malind knew that Nacelle was working on a weave to detect saidin. She brought Nacelle into the Hall when Jahar, an Asha'man, was present so that she could try out the weave (KoD, Ch. 23).

Quotes

"Malind is who should concern you... She would abandon Tar Valon and the Tower at once if she thought it would preserve at least some of us for Tarmon Gai'don. She will propose lifting the siege, fleeing somewhere the Forsaken can't find us until we're ready to strike back." (Myrelle speculates what proposal Malind intends to put before the Hall; Crossroads of Twilight, Chapter 19)

"Even if we rearrange matters so the strongest sisters are always in the same circle- and that means they must live, eat and sleep together, if they're to link on the moment- even then, we would be mice facing a cat. Enough mice can overwhelm even a large hungry cat, but not before many mice are dead. If enough of these mice die, though, the White Tower dies." (Malind to the Hall about the threat of the Forsaken; Crossroads of Twilight, Chapter 19)
